Russia reports 8,951 new COVID-19 cases, lifting total above 5 million

MOSCOW — Russia reported 8,951 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, including 2,924 in Moscow, taking the official national tally since the pandemic began to 5,001,505.

The government coronavirus task force said that 357 people had died of coronavirus-linked causes in the past 24 hours, pushing the national death toll to 118,482.
