LUCENA CITY – A motorcyclist died while his two passengers were injured after their vehicle was hit by a wayward sports utility vehicle (SUV) along Maharlika Highway in Calauag, Quezon Saturday night, police said.
The Calauag police reported on Sunday that the motorcycle driven by Michael Santiquia, 42 was sideswiped by the SUV driven by Antonio Boncan in Barangay Sto. Domingo at around 6:30 p.m.
Santiquia expired while being brought to St. Peter Hospital. His pillion riders, Aloja Ocial, 33, and her sister Catherine, 16, were injured.
The police report did not indicate whether or not the victims were wearing crash helmets when the accident happened.
Boncan told investigators that he lost control of his vehicle which swerved and eventually occupied the opposite lane that resulted in the deadly collision.
