Ex-drug convict busted anew in Quezon; yields P500K ‘shabu’

LUCENA CITY –– Police arrested a former drug convict who yielded over P500,000 worth of shabu (crystal meth) in a buy-bust operation in Lucban town in Quezon province on Thursday.

Col. Erickson Dilag, Quezon police chief, reported that anti-narcotics agents arrested Jefferson Abogado, 35, and alias “Boss Jeff” after he sold five sachets of shabu to an undercover police officer acting as a drug user in Barangay 8 around 10 p.m.

Authorities confiscated 25 grams of shabu with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P170,000. The seized crystal meth is worth P511,100 in the street market.

The police also confiscated a motorcycle believed to have been used by the suspect in his illegal drug trade.

Abogado was formerly on drug pushing charges but was released after a plea bargaining agreement, the police said.

Now jailed, the suspect faces charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
