SAN ANTONIO, Zambales—At least two households and a church in this province were hit by COVID-19 with more than eight people getting sick, officials said on Thursday (May 20).

According to Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health director, four members of a family in Subic town were among the latest to test positive for SARS Cov2, the highly contagious coronavirus that causes COVID-19, a disease that has yet no known cure.

All of them, including children aged 5 and 6, were exposed to a relative who was carrying the virus.

In Candelaria town, a man had infected his wife and daughter.

An elderly woman in Botolan town had also acquired the virus after getting exposed to her virus-infected husband and daughter.

In the capital town of Iba, a man had also tested positive for the virus after the minister of his church and some other members were infected.

They were among 12 new COVID-19 cases in the province, Bueno said.

Bueno said two COVID-19 patients had recovered from the disease on the same day.

As of Thursday, the province listed a total of 2,088 COVID-19 cases.

At least 1,854 had recovered from the disease while 51 had died.
