COVID-19 continues to infect Subic Freeport workers

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales –– Almost half of the 14 new COVID-19 cases in Olongapo City are workers inside the Subic Bay Freeport, local health data showed Thursday, May 20.

Citing the data, Olongapo Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said six of these COVID-19 patients are employees of private companies and could have been infected at work.

The other new COVID-19 cases in the city are either older residents or members of the same households.

So far, Olongapo has 170 active COVID-19 cases out of the 1,748 infections recorded since last year.

Paulino said nine patients recovered from the disease on that day bringing to 1,501 the total healed cases. The city’s death toll related to COVID-19 remained at 77. INQ
