MANILA, Philippines — Local milk producer Alaska Milk Corp. announced on Thursday it would lay off about 200 of its employees this July in line with the directive of its parent company—Royal Friesland Campina— to “optimize all of its business operations worldwide.”
The company said in a statement that the layoff would affect “redundant positions” at its plant in San Pedro, Laguna.
Alaska Milk corporate affairs director Maria Angela Esquivel said the company would provide a support package that includes severance pay higher than what the labor law currently requires.
