SAN ANTONIO, Zambales –– Two persons in Olongapo City, who had COVID-19, had died about a month after contracting the virus, an official said Wednesday, May 19.
Olongapo City Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said in a statement that the deaths of the two patients, aged 48 and 52, raised to 77 the city’s total fatalities related to COVID-19.
Both patients had comorbidities when they got the virus.
The 48-year-old man from Barangay East Bajac-Bajac had a heart ailment and suffered a stroke in 2016. The 52-year-old man from Barangay New Cabalan was a diabetic.
Both were hospitalized in April after exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, such as cough and fever.
Paulino said the city also logged 17 more COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, raising its active infections to 165.
Of the 1,734 COVID-19 cases recorded in Olongapo since last year, 1,490 had recovered from the disease.
