SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — A 26-year-old swabber and a 41-year-old inmate were the latest to get infected with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) disease in this province, an official said on Tuesday (May 18).
Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health director, said the swabber works at a COVID-19 facility inside the Subic Bay Freeport. She had tested positive for the virus on May 17 during a routine test.
Bueno said the inmate from the capital town of Iba suffered from a heart disease and high blood pressure. He was immediately transferred to a hospital after experiencing chest pain and difficulty with breathing before testing positive for COVID-19.
Four other new patients aged 28-84 with no travel history outside the province had also been infected with COVID-19.
To date, a total of 2,067 COVID-18 cases were listed in the province since the pandemic started; 165 of these remained active.
At least 19 patients had also recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries in the province to 1,850.
The number of COVID-19-related deaths in Zambales still stood at 51.
