BACOLOD CITY –– This City’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) expects to begin the vaccination of residents under the A4 category by the end of the week, said Administrator Em Ang.
A4 covers frontline personnel in essential sectors, including uniformed employees.
The city government is using AstraZeneca vaccines for healthcare workers, seniors, and persons with medical conditions, said Ang, who is also EOC executive director.
She said they expect to use up all their AstraZeneca vaccines this week and start with their Sinovac supply.
In Negros Occidental, Dr. Jessica Fama, medical specialist of the Provincial Health Office, said more than 22,700 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the province as of May 17.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson noted that the COVID-19 cases in Negros Occidental are going down.
Negros Occidental has 1,443 active COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday.
“I hope we can continue this downtrend, (but) just the same we still have to follow the minimum health protocols”, Lacson said.
