CITY OF MALOLOS –– The Bulacan State University (BSU) will go on a four-day “health break” starting Thursday, May 20, to ease the mental strains among its students and faculty members amid the pandemic.
BSU President Cecilia Gascon issued a memorandum on May 12 suspending all classes and school work in its five campuses.
The university has at least 36,000 students and 2,000 faculty and non-faculty members.
Its main campus is located in the capital city of Bulacan, while its external campuses are in Bustos, Hagonoy, the City of San Jose del Monte, and Bulakan.
Gascon said the BSU recognizes the “burdensome” workload and academic activities that are mostly done online during the pandemic as the basis for implementing the health break.
She said it would allow the BSU community “to step back and recharge our minds, spend time to rest, sleep early, and seek the guidance of our Lord who strengthens us and constantly gives us hope.”
The much-needed break comes shortly after the midterm examinations. The current semester will end in July.
