MANILA, Philippines—A man was found dead, hanging from the ceiling of his rented room, in what appeared to be a jealousy-driven suicide in Butuan City, a Caraga police spokesman said Friday.
Police found the body of Bernardo Diaz Bilbao, 32, hanged in his room in Brgy 18 Obrero, Butuan City at 1:58 p.m. Thursday, said Superintendent Martin Gamba.
Investigations showed that Bilbao had a heated argument Wednesday afternoon with his entertainer wife, identified as Nicole, because of his “constant jealousy”, accusing Nicole of having an affair with someone else, Gamba said.
Bilbao, seemingly depressed, went to see his brother a few hours before he committed suicide, he said.
He was found dead by a certain Lito Dakuran around 12:30 p.m., Gamba said.
Dakuran destroyed the lock of Bernardo’s wooden door at 1:58 p.m. after seeing through a small gap on the wall that Bernardo was hanging.
A handwritten “suicide note” was found near Bilbao’s body, Gamba said.
Bernardo’s remains now lie at Nilo Funeral Parlor, he said.
