Garin in, Haresco out as House economic affairs panel chair
MANILA, Philippines — The leadership shake-up in the House of Representatives continued Monday—this time, AAMBIS-OWA Rep. Sharon Garin is back as chairperson of the lower chamber’s committee on economic affairs replacing Aklan Rep. Ted Haresco Jr.
Garin was elected as the chairperson of the committee during Monday’s House session, the first session day following a nearly two-month-long break.
“Mr. Speaker, on behalf of the majority, I move to nominate and elect as chairperson of the committee on economic affairs Rep. Sharon Garin vice Hon. Ted Haresco Jr.,” Deputy Majority Leader Rimpy Bondoc said.
Garin previously served as the chairperson of the economic affairs committee but was removed in October 2020 amid the speakership row between then Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano and now Speaker Lord Allan Velasco.
