PNP logs 1 new death due to COVID-19, 69 new cases

MANILA, Philippines — Another police officer succumbed to COVID-19, while the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday logged 69 new cases of coronavirus disease among its ranks.

This brings the total infections among police officers to 21,924 as of May 17.

Of this number, 1,407 remain active cases while its health service recorded 85 new recoveries, bringing total recoveries to 20,456.

After the new recorded fatality, the death toll now stands at 61, according to PNP.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health said that the country’s total number of infections as of May 17, stands at 1,149,925 cases, with 54,235 active cases, and a death toll at 19,262.
