Aquino dares Corona to bare dollar account
MANILA, Philippines—President Benigno Aquino III on Friday dared impeached Chief Justice Renato Corona to disclose the contents of his reported dollar accounts a day after the Supreme Court issued an order stopping the Senate from subpoenaing bank records involving foreign currency deposits.
“Public servant tayo. May public trust na kasama dun (We are public servants. Public trust is involved),” Mr. Aquino told reporters, who had asked him asked for his thoughts on the Supreme Court’s temporary restraining order on Corona’s alleged dollar accounts.
“Maganda sana magboluntaryo na yung nasasakdal kung walang tinatago na buksan yun para makita niyong wala akong kasalanan (It would be good for the respondent, if he is not hiding anything to voluntarily disclose the account to show he is not guilty,” he added.
