Heavy rains flood Ozamiz City

OZAMIZ CITY, Philippines—Heavy rains since Thursday evening caused water to rise in several villages here starting Friday but no one was reported killed or injured.

Ozamiz Mayor Nova Echavez said she has ordered the suspension of classes in the elementary and high school levels due to the floods which affected a large part of the city.

The floods here occurred as residents of flood-stricken Dapitan City have started returning home early Friday after floodwaters started to recede, a Dapitan official said.

Councilor Apple Agolong said no one was reported killed or hurt in the floods.
