2 killed, 118 drug suspects nabbed in Cavite police operations

LUCENA CITY – Two alleged drug pushers were killed while 118 other drug suspects were arrested by the Cavite police in separate buy-bust operations from May 10 to 16.

Police Colonel Marlon Santos, Cavite police chief, reported at 2 p.m. Sunday that the drug suspects were arrested in 73 sting operations in different parts of the province in the past week.

Authorities seized a total of 302 packets of shabu (crystal meth), 36 plastic sachets of dried marijuana leaves, drug-using items, and cash believed to be from the sale of illegal drugs.

The volume and street value of the confiscated illegal drugs were not specified in the report.

Police identified the slain suspected drug pushers as Reniel Daguindal and Larry Miranda.

The police did not provide details on the operations that led to the death of the alleged drug suspects.

Police confiscated a .45 caliber pistol and two .38 caliber revolvers from the drug suspects.

The police also nabbed 108 illegal gamblers, 27 wanted criminals, and 41 suspects for minor and major criminal offenses.

Meanwhile, authorities recorded 16,744 COVID-19 safety protocol violators, with 1,778 of them not wearing a face mask and another 924 with improper use of the masks; 10,745 without face shields and 788 improper use of face shields; 2,216 violating the curfew hours; and 13 conducted mass gathering.

Police said 13,631 of the violators were given warnings, 1,176 paid fines, 1,264 have undergone community services, and 673 violators were charged for other offenses.
