MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday reported 5,790 new COVID-19 cases that brought the country’s caseload to 1,143,963.
Of the total, 54,904 or 4.8 percent are ‘active’ cases that are mostly mild or asymptomatic at 95.4 percent.
The DOH said the low number of cases recorded on Sunday was due to “low testing output of laboratories on Friday, May 14, 2021.”
The total number of recoveries was recorded at 1,069,868 or 93.5 of all cases. The DOH added that 7,541 patients also recovered from COVID-19.
The death toll is now at 19,191 or 1.68 percent of all infections with 140 new deaths added to the tally Sunday.
