Isabela cooperative development officer succumbs to COVID-19

CITY OF ILAGAN — The provincial cooperative development officer of Isabela died on Saturday (May 15) due to complications after contracting COVID-19, the provincial government said.

Nearing 60 years old when she passed, Lilia Castillo had risen from the ranks and had received numerous awards as a career public servant.

Under Castillo’s watch, the Isabela cooperative was recognized as a Hall of Fame awardee as Best Performing Provincial Cooperative Development Council from 2016 to 2018 in the Regional and National contests.

The award was given by the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), the agency in charge of promoting the viability and growth of cooperatives as instruments of equity, social justice, and economic development.
