Fire in residential area in Manila put out

MANILA, Philippines — Fire of still unknown origin hit a residential area in Sta. Cruz, Manila Friday morning but was put out minutes after it started, a fire officer from the National Capital Region Bureau of Fire Protection said.

Fire Officer 2 Hoover Moral said the fire that started before 9 a.m. along Tambunting Street in Sta. Cruz and reached second alarm before it was put out by firefighters at 9:18 a.m.

He said no immediate report of injuries or casualties has reached their office as of posting time.

The number of houses burned, the cost of damage, as well as the cause of fire have yet to be determined by investigators, Moral said.
