Average new COVID-19 cases daily in NCR down 30%

Shift to GCQ after May 14 possible says Palace

MANILA, Philippines — The average new COVID-19 cases per day in the National Capital Region (NCR) decreased by 30 percent over the past week, experts from the OCTA Research group reported Saturday.

In its May 15 bulletin, OCTA Research said that average new COVID-19 cases per day in Metro Manila from May 9 to May 14 was at 1,644, a 30 percent decline from the pervious week.

“The reproduction number in NCR decreased to 0.57 while the positivity rate in the NCR was down to 12 percent,” OCTA Research said.

The average daily attack rate (ADAR) in NCR also decreased below 12 per 100,000, it added.

Meanwhile, the experts said the ADAR in Navotas, Malabon, Manila, and Caloocan decreased below 10 per 100,000, which the Department of Health classifies as moderate risk.

According to OCTA, here are the ADAR per city in Metro Manila:

  • Malabon – 7.40
  • Manila – 8.33
  • Caloocan – 9.89
  • Taguig – 10.20
  • Muntinlupa – 10.54
  • Pasay – 10.96
  • Paranaque – 11.76
  • Marikina – 12.22
  • Quezon City – 12.64
  • Valenzuela – 13.08
  • Las Pinas – 13.15
  • Makati – 16.32
  • Pasig – 17.28
  • Mandaluyong – 19.32
  • San Juan – 23.66
  • Pateros – 32.35

As of May 14, the number of total active COVID-19 cases in the country was at 58,986 as the DOH reported 6,784 new infections.

The DOH’s case bulletin on Friday showed that the country has so far confirmed a total of 1,131,467 COVID-19 cases.
