QC cops, PDEA agents ‘meet’ again at Fairview drug ops

MANILA, Philippines — Officers from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) apparently found themselves on the opposite ends of each other’s operations again.

Initial information revealed on Friday said that the two groups were conducting their own operations in a parking lot near Fairview, Quezon City when both parties found out again that both teams are actually legitimate law enforcers.

Reports from DZBB said that both sides — QCPD Station 4’s Drug Enforcement Unit and PDEA’s agents from its regional office in Calabarzon — presented legitimate documents.

Eventually, no harm was done as no confrontation happened during the operation.

INQUIRER.net tried to contact QCPD Station 4 for more details on the incident, but they declined to give any information over the phone and online.  PDEA spokesperson and Director Derrick Carreon also said that the agency would not issue any statement and wait for the official report first.

This is not the first time PDEA and QCPD found themselves on opposing ends of an operation.  While no shots were fired during this incident, last February 24, QCPD officials, this time from Station 6, conducted an operation not knowing that their targets — PDEA agents — were also doing their own operation.

The infamous incident resulted in the death of four individuals: two police officers, a PDEA agent, and a PDEA informant.
