Advincula ordained cardinal in Roxas City
MANILA, Philippines — Instead of a consistory in the Vatican, incoming Manila Archbishop Jose Advincula will be ordained cardinal in Roxas City where Apostolic Nuncio Charles Brown will bestow on the 69-year-old prelate a scarlet biretta and ring, the symbols of his office in the church.
The ordination will be held at the Immaculate Conception Metropolitan Cathedral in Roxas City on May 28.
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines said there was no date set yet for Advincula’s installation as the new Manila archbishop.
On March 25, Pope Francis appointed Advincula to the Manila Archidiocese, in place of Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, who currently serves in Rome as the Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of People.
