THE CEBU Amateur Football Club (CAFC) is cooking up a bigger 12th CAFC National Inter-Club Football Cup this year by increasing the prize money for the men’s open championship from P40,000 to P100,000.
CAFC president Glenn Quisido said they are doing this to attract more men’s teams from outside Cebu to play in the tournament.
Hiroshi is the defending champion in the men’s open after edging Waterfresh Queen City United via penalty shootout, 4-3.
The club also increased the prize money in the 40 above category from P10,000 to P20,000.
For the age-group categories, Quisido said that aside from the trophies and medals, they will be awarding the champion teams with soccer balls.
The tournament is slated from May 19 to 27 and will be held in the same venues, the University of San Carlos Technological Center (USC-TC), San Roque football field and Paref Springdale.
Categories to be contested are players 10, boys and girls 12, boys 14, boys 17, men’s open and 40 above.
