PUERTO PRINCESA CITY –– Eight villages in the island town of Coron in Palawan province will be put under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), the tightest quarantine classification, starting 10 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, until May 26.
The villages to be placed under the critical zone to contain COVID-19 are Poblacion 1, Tagumpay, Guadalupe, Poblacion 2, Poblacion 3, Poblacion 4, Poblacion 5, and Poblacion 6, according to the Coron information office.
The localized lockdown was imposed due to the spike in cases since May 1, five days after they announced the town to be COVID-free.
On Tuesday, three patients tested positive for COVID-19––a 37-year-old female patient from Poblacion 1; a 64-year-old male from Tagumpay; and a 70-year-old female from Guadalupe.
Of the 14 active cases in Coron as of May 11, four are from Poblacion 1, four are from Tagumpay, three are from Poblacion 5, two from Guadalupe, and one from Poblacion 4.
The town has 45 probable cases in their isolation facility, while contact tracing is conducted.
As of Wednesday, Coron has 11 active COVID-19 cases. The town recorded 113 patients, 100 recoveries, and two deaths due to COVID-19 since March last year.
