KMP leader in detention gets COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — A peasant leader arrested by Calabarzon police for alleged illegal possession of firearms and explosives was infected with the coronavirus after being jailed two months ago.
Joseph Canlas, vice chair of the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP), is currently comatose and intubated.
On May 8, he was rushed to the hospital in Angeles City due to a possible stroke and low oxygen level. He has diabetes and hypertension.
