Woman and her 2-month-old baby among 10 new COVID-19 patients in Zambales

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales—A 20-year old woman and her 2-month-old daughter had tested positive for SARS Cov2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19, in the province on Sunday (May 9), an official said.

According to Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health director, the two showed no symptoms of the disease but had to undergo testing after the woman’s husband contracted the virus first.

The family lives in the capital town of Iba, Bueno said.

Among the province’s other new COVID-19 patients also belong to the same households, he noted.

At least 31 patients in the province had already recovered from the disease on the same day, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,720. The death toll remains at 51.

To date, Zambales logged 1,937 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic started and 165 of these remain active.
