MANILA, Philippines — Residents from Visayas and Mindanao, and in some parts of Southern Luzon provinces can expect cloudy skies and isolated rains due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), state meteorologists said on Monday afternoon.

Satellite images from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) showed that cloud clusters carrying rains are moving over the areas mentioned — from Mimaropa down to Central and Eastern Visayas, and Mindanao.

But for the rest of the country including Metro Manila, the easterlies are still prevalent and would continue to bring hot and humid weather conditions.

The ITCZ’s effects are expected to continue until Tuesday, with temperatures over Southern Luzon including Bicol Region going slightly lower at 26 to 32 degrees Celsius for both Puerto Princesa and Legazpi.

Compared to the northern areas, Metro Manila would have 26 to 35 degrees, Tuguegarao with a scorching 26 to 37 degrees, and Laoag with 26 to 33 degrees.

Temperatures would also be lower in Visayas for Tuesday, due to the cloudy skies: Cebu and Tacloban would have something around 25 to 31 degrees Celsius, 26 to 32 degrees for Iloilo, and 25 to 32 degrees across Zamboanga, Cagayan de Oro, and Mindanao.

Despite the rainy conditions down south, Pagasa clarified that no tropical cyclone or low pressure area had been spotted near the country.

Also, no gale warning has been raised although the northern waters of Luzon plus the entire eastern seaboard would have a moderate condition.  The rest of the country’s inland and territorial waters would be slight to moderate.
