CABARROGUIS, Quirino — Police here serenaded 10 mothers who belong to the poor families in two far-flung villages of the town of Aglipay and Cabarroguis in Quirino province to celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday (May 9).
The mothers also received cakes, flowers, and food packages from the members of the 1st Quirino Provincial Mobile Force Company (QPMFC) and its advisory council.
Lt. Col. Ernesto Nebalasca, 1st QPMFC commander, told the Inquirer that they chose nine indigent mothers from Barangay Dumabel in Aglipay and one from Barangay (village) Banuar in Cabarroguis.
He said that they pooled their own money, along with those from some donors for the surprise.
“The feeling of seeing them happy and shedding tears of joy made us happy, too. We shared a few of our graces,” said Joan Javier, 1st QPMFC advisory council chairperson.
“I’m thankful. No words can tell how much I appreciate their help,” said Marlyn Yacapin, a mother from Barangay Banuar. Her husband died from cardiac arrest in January this year.
The two villages were among the COVID-19-free areas in Quirino but the police officers observed health protocols such as wearing face masks and face shields, and observing social distancing.
