MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Saturday announced that it would be resuming the issuance of voter certifications for local registered voters starting May 10.
In a press release, the Comelec said registered voters nationwide may apply for a voter’s certification from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays at the Comelec’s National Central File Division satellite office, in the FEMII Building, Extension Cabildo Street cor. A. Soriano Avenue, Intramuros, Manila.
Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez reminded the public that applications for voter’s certification are by appointment only to ensure the safety of those who will be visiting their offices.
“Applications for the issuance of voter certification are by appointment only. Together with our ‘no-face mask, no-face shield, no entry policy,’ this will ensure that we are protecting the safety of the public, even while NCR Plus remains under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine” he said.
The Comelec says voter certification is free of charge for senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), members of the Indigenous People (IPs) and Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICCs), and solo parents.
On March 29, Comelec temporarily closed all of its offices in NCR Plus due to the reimposition of Enhanced Community Quarantine in the area.
