SAN ANTONIO, Zambales – Eight more employees of firms operating inside the Subic Bay Freeport have contracted the coronavirus disease, an Olongapo City official said on Friday.
The workers were among the 12 new infections recorded in Olongapo, said Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. in a statement.
Citing the latest data, Paulino said the stricken workers are aged between 22 and 25 years old, while the other new patients are elderly residents who suffer other medical conditions.
On Thursday, six freeport workers also contracted the virus.
To date, Olongapo’s total tally of COVID-19 infections has risen to 1,590, of which 194 are still active cases. At least 1,324 patients have recovered from the disease. JOANNA ROSE AGLIBOT
