DOTr vows cash perks to drivers providing services

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has promised to give financial incentives to drivers who participated in its service contracting program, even as jeepney drivers have complained of delayed payment from the agency.

Drivers may receive P25,000 as a one-time incentive.

“To encourage more drivers to get on board the [service contracting] system, we will give an incentive of P25,000 to every driver who registered from last year until April 30 this year. Those who would get on board the system from May 1 to June 15 will receive P20,000 each,” said Martin Delgra, chair of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB). The LTFRB handles the service contracting program.
