MANILA, Philippines – Generally fair weather is expected in Luzon and the Visayas due to the easterlies while cloudy skies with isolated rain showers are expected on Friday in Mindanao due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
“(D)ahil nga po nakakaapekto itong intertropical convergence zone o ITCZ dito po sa may Mindanao, asahan po natin na magiging makulimlim po ang kalangitan. May mga inaasahan po tayong mga pag-ulan na may kasama po ‘yang mga thunderstorm,” said Pagasa weather specialist Shelly Ignacio in the weather bureau’s early morning bulletin.
(Due to the intertropical convergence zone or ITCZ, cloudy skies are expected in Mindanao along with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.)
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will be affected by the easterlies, or winds coming from the east, according to Ignacio.
Pagasa said Luzon will see generally fair weather on Friday, but isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms, particularly in the eastern section are possible.
In the Visayas, fair weather is likewise expected along with isolated rain showers and localized thunderstorms.
No gale warnings are in effect nationwide, Pagasa said.
