MANILA, Philippines — The Pasay City Government is set to open one of the biggest vaccination sites in the country at The Galleon within the SM Mall of Asia complex on Friday.

Pasay Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano said the “giga vaccination center” — capable of accommodating up to 2,000 individuals a day — in line with the city’s goal of vaccinating 14,000 people a week to fast track herd immunity.

“Kaya pong mabakunahan sa ating giga vaccination center ang 1,600 hanggang 2,000 na indibidwal kada araw, kaya tiyak ko na malaki ang maitutulong nito para mapabilis ang kampanya ng national government na mabakunahan ang mayorya ng ating mga kababayan,” she said in a statement.

(Our giga vaccination center could accommodate 1,600 up to 2,000 vaccinees every day, that’s why I am confident that this facility would be of big help to the national government’s campaign of vaccinating the majority of its citizens.)

Some 500 senior citizens from various villages in Pasay are slated to be vaccinated in the site.

The facility, also set to have an air-conditioning system, will soon feature a drive-through section for vaccination.

“Handang-handa na kami magbakuna at inaantay na lang naming dumating iyong maraming mga bakuna,” she pointed out.

(We are all set for the vaccination; we are just waiting for the huge bulk of vaccines to arrive.)

Pasay has 13,890 cases of the new coronavirus, including 183 active cases, 13,339 recoveries, and 368 deaths, according to the local government’s latest case bulletin.
