PH Navy rescues 2 fishermen, rebuilds their boat

TACLOBAN CITY—Two fishermen were rescued by Navy men after their boat capsized at San Pedro Bay in Basey town, Samar province on Tuesday (May 4).

The fishermen, Guillermo Ellema, 78; and his brother Alberto, 74, both residents of San Antonio village, Basey, sought the help of the Navy vessel which passed by the area to conduct maritime security patrol.

The fishermen’s boat capsized after it was pummeled by strong winds and big waves.

The fishermen were given clothes and food after the rescue.

The Navy also retrieved the fishermen’s boat and started rebuilding it.

The rescued fishermen were turned over to the Tacloban City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Unit and City Health Office which, in turn, guided them back home.
