MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.1 earthquake jolted parts of Mindanao on Thursday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
According to the earthquake bulletin released by Phivolcs, the epicenter of the quake was located 8 kilometers (km) southwest of Magsaysay, Davao Del Sur at 2:24 P.M.
Phivolcs said Intensity V was felt in Koronadal City, South Cotabato; Intensity III in Kidapawan City, Cotabato; and Intensity II in Kiamba, Sarangani, the rest of South Cotabato and General Santos City.
State seismologists said that the quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 17 km.
While no damages are expected, Phivolcs warned that aftershocks may occur.
This quake was recorded just a few hours after a 4.5-magnitude quake shook Catanduanes earlier in the afternoon at 12:29 P.M.
