14 new cases, 1 death added to Zambales’ COVID-19 tally

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales –– At least 14 new cases and one fatality were added to the growing tally of COVID-19 in this province on Wednesday.

In a statement, Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health director, said the fatality was a 77-year-old woman from the capital town of Iba, who died on May 1. She was the province’s 48th patient who succumbed to COVID-19 complications.

Among the new COVID-19 patients in the province is a 37-year-old nurse, a resident of Subic town but works in a public hospital in Olongapo City.

She was infected along with her 37-year-old husband and their children aged 10 and 13.

Bueno noted that some of the other new cases had also been exposed to virus-infected family members.

The province recorded 1,892 cases since the pandemic started, of which 285 are active.

Two more patients were added to the list of those who healed, bringing the total recoveries to 1,558 on the same day. INQ
