Quezon gov contracts COVID-19
LUCENA CITY –– The governor of Quezon province has tested positive for the highly contagious COVID-19.
Gov. Danilo Suarez announced this himself in a notice posted by the Quezon public information office on its Facebook at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 6.
“Bilang pag-iingat ay sumailalim ako sa routine RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) test noong Mayo 5. Ngayong umaga ay lumabas ang resulta na positibo ” Suarez disclosed.
(As a precaution, I went through a routine RT-PCR test on May 5. This morning, the result came out positive).
Suarez is 79 years old.
Article continues after this advertisementHe assured everyone that he is in a stable condition and being taken care of by his physician.
Article continues after this advertisementSuarez asked everyone, who has come in close contact with him, to undergo self-quarantine and have themselves tested if they show symptoms of COVID-19.
“Sa mga taong nagkaroon ng close contact sa akin sa mga nakalipas na araw, nakikiusap po ako na kayo ay magself-quarantine at obserbahan kung may sintomas ayon sa alituntuning itinakda ng DOH,” Suarez said.
He called on the residents to strictly follow all COVID-19 safety protocols to prevent the spread of the virus.
Suarez had been going around the province to deliver relief goods and cash aid to residents, who have been kept home by the pandemic. INQ
