MANILA, Philippines — More than 2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the Philippines, a Department of Health (DOH) official said Wednesday.

In a televised briefing, DOH Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje said 320,586 individuals have already completed their two doses of the vaccine while 1,744,649 received their first dose.

“Karamihan doon ang ating frontline workers, ang ating mga A1 (health workers],” Cabotaje said.

(Most of them are our frontline workers, those under the A1 category.)

Over 250,000 health workers have completed vaccination, while 1.1 million already received their first dose of the COVID-19 jab.

Cabotaje said the vaccination of frontline personnel in essential sectors has also started with 7,342 individuals already getting their first dose.

The rollout of the 15,000 doses of the Russian-made Sputnik V vaccine already started in Metro Manila, Cabotaje added.

“Nagsimula tayo magbakuna kahapon, may naitala po tayong 2,634 na nabakunahan ng Sputnik V,” she said.

(We have started to vaccinate yesterday and recorded 2,634 individuals inoculated with Sputnik V.)

Of this figure, Cabotaje said 2,100 individuals vaccinated are from Parañaque City, 165 from Manila City, and 369 in Makati City.

Vaccination with the Sputnik V vaccine will also begin in Taguig City and Muntinlupa this Wednesday.
