PUERTO PRINCESA CITY — This city’s Vice mayor Maria Nancy Socrates tested positive for the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
In her Facebook post Tuesday evening, she said she was not exhibiting symptoms of the virus.
“Positive, but asymptomatic,” she wrote on her social media post.
Her staff said the vice mayor is isolated and remained to be in good spirits.
She has known comorbidities, having survived cancer at the age of 18.
Earlier this week, four of her personnel also tested positive for the highly infectious disease. However, local health officers have yet to determine where Socrates contracted the virus.
As of Tuesday evening, there were 401 active COVID-19 cases in Puerto Princesa, from a total of 941 confirmed cases, with 521 recoveries and 19 deaths recorded since the pandemic started last year.
