Iligan City’s top traffic cop dies in road crash
ILIGAN CITY—The head of the city’s traffic division was killed in a road crash past noon on Monday (May 3).
Lt. Col. Oliver Pableo, spokesperson of the Iligan City police, told the Inquirer that Maj. Abogado Mautin was driving on the way to Cagayan de Oro when his vehicle collided with a cargo truck in Laguindingan town, Misamis Oriental province.
Pableo said Mautin was on official travel to follow up on his rank promotion.
The truck driver, identified as Neilboy Acocoy, is now detained at the Laguindingan municipal police station.
Mautin, 38, used to head the City Mobile Force Company.
He was expected to be buried in his hometown Kolambugan, Lanao del Norte according to Muslim rites.
