BACOLOD CITY—The National Bureau of Investigation on Monday exhumed the body of a Negros Occidental provincial consultant at San Carlos City Memorial Park, three weeks after he was gunned down by still unidentified assailants. According to NBI Bacolod chief Renoir Baldovino, their medico-legal officer conducted an autopsy on the remains of Mariano Antonio “Marton” Cui to find some leads into his death. The family of Cui initially refused the conduct of an autopsy but eventually agreed to allow the NBI to examine the remains. “We need to recover the bullet that killed Cui if it is in his body for ballistics cross-matching,” Baldovino said. He said it was premature to disclose the motives for the killing that they were looking into. Col. Romy Palgue, Negros Occidental police director, said they had no leads yet on the identities of the assailants and the motive behind the killing.
