Tugade designates DOTr Asec. Eymard Eje as new MRT-3 OIC

MANILA, Philippines — Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade has designated a new officer-in-charge for the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3), the rail system’s management announced on Monday.

According to MRT-3’s official Facebook page, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Assistant Secretary Eymard Eje would be the OIC-General Manager of the train system.

Eje would do this while maintaining his current portfolio as Assistant Secretary for Project Implementation in the Mindanao cluster.

“DOTr Secretary Arthur P. Tugade has designated Asec. Eymard D. Eje as the new Officer-in-Charge (OIC) General Manager of MRT-3 on 23 April 2021,” MRT-3 said.

“He will serve as MRT-3’s OIC General Manager in his concurrent capacity as DOTr Assistant Secretary for Project Implementation-Mindanao Cluster,” it added.

In the same statement, Eje assured the public that they would provide a comfortable and efficient ride for passengers of the busy rail system, which runs along EDSA, and traverses at least five cities in Metro Manila.

“We will remain faithful to the guidance of Secretary Tugade to provide a comfortable public transport to all our commuters,” Eje said.

“We are dedicated to pursue only the highest of public service standards from the smallest to the biggest decisions and management tasks that we need to fulfill,” he added.

According to MRT-3, Eje started his public service career as a Legislative Staff Assistant in Paranaque City in 1994.  He then became the Chief of Staff of former Court of Appeals Justice Agnes Reyes-Carpio in 2009, before serving as a Presidential Staff Officer at the Office of the President-Presidential Management Staff.

The general manager position of MRT-3 became vacant after former general manager Rodolfo Garcia passed away in February 2021, due to complications from COVID-19.
