P221.8M Ok’d to aid 44,362 tourism workers in Western Visayas––Romulo-Puyat
BACOLOD CITY –– At least P221,810,000 had been approved to be given as cash assistance to 44,362 tourism workers in Western Visayas had been approved, according to Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.
The country’s lawmakers, she said, allocated P3.1 billion in financial aid under the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act.
The beneficiaries were given P5,000 as one-time financial assistance.
Puyat said tourism revenues in Western Visayas dropped to P22.9 billion in 2020 from P131.4 billion.
In Negros Occidental, revenues dropped by -74.13 percent or from P14.4 billion in 2019 to P3.7 billion in 2020, she said.
In Bacolod City revenues dropped by -82.54 percent or from P15.7 billion in 2019 to P2.7 billion in 2020, Puyat added.
