LUCENA CITY, Philippines – Two motorcycle riders died in a vehicular accident in Cavinti town in Laguna province on Saturday night, police said.
Police regional office reported that Frederick Griego, 46, was cruising the national highway aboard a motorcycle with Remelyn Sarmiento as his passenger when an oncoming Mitsubishi L200 pickup truck being driven by Rodelino Ruazol accidentally hit them in a head-on collision in a section of the highway in Barangay (village) Tibatib around 7:30 p.m.
The two motorcycle riders sustained grave injuries and were taken to Laguna Medical Center in Sta. Cruz town but Griego died along the way.
Sarmiento later died while undergoing treatment, police said.
A police report said the truck allegedly occupied the opposite lane that led to the collision.
Ruazol is now under the custody of the local police.
