TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Eastern Visayas has offered more than 1,400 job vacancies as part of this year’s Labor Day celebration.
However, unlike in the past years, those who are seeking employment have to apply online as the country continues to face the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Norma Rae Costimiano, regional information officer of DOLE-8, said about 1, 498 job vacancies are up for grabs.
Of this number, 1,132 are for local employment while the remaining 366 are for overseas work.
About 19 establishments and agencies have joined this year’s job fair which is being conducted by DOLE in coordination with jobnet.
“We are hoping that the displaced workers will really take advantage of the job fair and get the chance to be hired,” Costimiano said.
Among those who applied was Aljun Morante who has been looking for work for four months now.
“I just hope I will be hired. I really need a job to feed my family,” the 36-year-old father to three children said.
