MANILA, Philippines – The Vice President’s Office and its partners announced on Friday that they would host an online concert on Labor Day to honor healthcare workers for fighting COVID-19.

The online concert titled “Harana: Musical Tribute to Filipino Frontliners” under the OVP’s Istorya ng Pag-asa program will feature artists who volunteered to participate in the musical in support of frontliners.

The list of the performers include The Company, Noel Cabangon, Cooky Chua, Nonoy Zuñiga, Agot Isidro, Buboy Garrovillo, Jim Paredes, Joana Ampil, Renato Lucas, Skarlet Brown, Ivy Violan, Joey Ayala, Noli Aurillo, Bayang Barrios, Amp Big Band, Nona Galan and Arman Ferrer.

The OVP said the concert would be hosted by Medwin Marfil, lead vocalist and founder of True Faith, and Caroline Veronilla, Binibining Pilipinas 2020 Top 16 Finalist.

The online concert will be available live on the Istorya ng Pag-asa Facebook page at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 1.

Meanwhile, viewing stations will be installed at participating hospitals, such as the National Kidney Transplant Institute, the Quirino Memorial Medical Center and other provincial hospitals, for staff and patients to watch the musical.

In addition to the featured artists, doctors, nurses and staff from the Philippine General Hospital will also be performing.

Also featured in the program will be messages of inspiration and hope from first responders, their families and COVID-19 patients.

The online concert was co-organized by some of OVP’s Angat Buhay program partners, including Architect Peach Buencamino who was part of the Oasis Project for frontliners.

“Sana kahit papano, kahit sandali at kahit sa maliit na paraan ay magawa nating ipakita ang ating paghanga at pagmamahal para malaman nilang hindi sila nag-iisa sa labang ito. Lahat tayo may magagawa, maliit man o malaki, malalampasan natin kahit ano, kung tulong tulong tayo,” said Buencamino.

(Hopefully somehow, even for a brief moment and even in some small way, we will be able to express our admiration and love so that they know that in this battle, they are not alone. We can all do something, small or big; we can overcome anything if we support each other.)
