MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported Friday 8,748 new COVID-19 cases in the country, bringing the total number of infections to more than 1.037 million.
As of April 30, there have been 1,037,460 recorded COVID-19 cases in the Philippines. Of this number, 73,908 are active.
Meanwhile, the DOH also recorded 4,142 new recoveries and 89 new deaths. This brought the recovery count and death toll to 946,318 and 17,234, respectively.
Of the active cases, 95. 1 percent are mild, 1.7 percent is asymptomatic, 1.3 percent is severe, 1 percent is critical, and 0.87 percent is moderate.
In terms of hospital utilization in the country, 64 percent pf ICU beds, 45 percent of isolation beds, and 51 percent of ward beds are also are occupied while 43 percent of ventilators are being used.
In the National Capital Region, 71 percent of the ICU beds, 51 percent of isolation beds, and 62 percent of ward beds are occupied while 55 percent of the ventilators are being used.
