3 dead in pickup–truck collision in Quezon

LUCENA CITY — The driver and two passengers of a Hilux pickup died in a collision with a trailer truck along Quirino Highway in Tagkawayan town in Quezon province shortly before midnight Thursday, police said.

Tagkawayan police reported that the pickup driven by Jessanto Abellon occupied the opposite lane when he overshoot a section of the highway and consequently collided with an oncoming trailer truck head driven by Roymar Ayapana in Barangay San Isidro at around 11:45 p.m.

Abellon and his two passengers, Jocelyn Perez and Dandy Perez, sustained grave injuries and died on the way to the Ma. L. Eleazar District Hospital, also in Tagkawayan.

Police were yet to determine the relationship between the two Perez.

Ayapana was placed in the custody of the police while the investigation was ongoing.
