Impeach court defers action on Corona dollar accounts

MANILA, Philippines—The Senate, sitting as an impeachment court, has deferred  action  on a written  explanation submitted by a bank  official  why  he   refused to  submit and disclose  details  pertaining to dollar accounts in the name of Chief Justice  Renato Corona.

At the resumption of the impeachment trial on Thursday, Senate Majority Leader  Vicente  Sotto III  informed the Senate  that it was in receipt  of a written  explanation from Pascual  Garcia  III, president of  Philippine Savings Bank, who refused  during  Wednesday’s  proceeding to  disclose details of Corona’s  dollar accounts.

But Sotto  said  the  chamber would discuss the  matter in a caucus  on Monday.
