MANILA, Philippines — The Ospital ng Makati (OsMak) 2 will soon be upgraded into a 360-bed hospital after the Makati City local government signed Tuesday an agreement to redevelop, complete, and operate the unfinished hospital.

In a statement, the local government said Mayor Abby Binay signed a joint venture agreement with Life Nurture, Inc. (LNI) to construct OsMak 2 in the city’s central business district.

LNI president Dr. Dennis Sta. Ana said they will construct two additional floors to the existing OsMak 2 structure to increase the hospital’s capacity to 360 beds from the original plan of 300 beds.

Sta. Ana said LNI will also build more than 190 doctor clinics.

“Amid the challenges we continue to face, we sincerely believe that the best COVID response is efficient healthcare for Makatizens,” Binay said, as quoted in the statement.

“It is our duty to provide each one with the best service, care, attention, and medical facilities that our taxpayers’ money can buy,” she added.

Once completed, OsMak 2 will be renamed Makati Life Nurture Health System (MakatiLife).

OsMak 2, soon to become MakatiLife, will have a cancer center manned by a multi-specialty team using equipment such as an accelerator for radiation treatment and a cardiac center with a cardiac catheterization lab for angiography, open heart surgery and organ transplantation surgeries.

The hospital will also have a physical rehabilitation medicine center that will use robotics in treating joint and soft tissue ailments and a hybrid operating room that combines diagnostic imaging and surgical theater in one room to effectively manage complex surgeries.
